12 SKY SAILOR March | April 2022 The Women with Wings (WwW) group continues to go from strength to strength, providing female pilots with the chance to pursue their love of flying and build the all-important skills needed to fly. Two recent initiatives coordinated by the group have been a huge success for female pilots looking for more airtime and the sense of camaraderie that can come with the sport. As part of the drive to support female pilots, WwW scheduled Skill Development Clinics at Bulli Park near Wollongong in January to give low airtime pilots the opportunity to receive personalised coaching to empower them with the necessary skills and confidence to get them flying independently. “Women With Wings was created with the purpose to bring women together to support each other in our flying journey and it could not have come at a more needed time,” said member Catherine McMillan. The Skills Development Clinics gave pilots the chance to fly a new site to build their skills and experience with new obstacles to navigate, new scenery to explore and new challenges to rise into. Following the site briefing, those who had not flown the area before were offered the opportunity to go up in a tandem to get a ‘lay of the land’ tour, which was facilitated by Fly Stanwell crew. Every woman who attended the clinic learnt something new, refined skills, enhanced confi- dence and experienced this with fellow pilots. More airtime for female pilots
