13 March | April 2022 SKY SAILOR Also in January, the WwW Tow Endorsement Weekend in Gloucester, NSW, was finally held, following a few false starts thanks to the temperamental weather conditions. Several female pilots enjoyed their first experience of a towing event on Saturday, 29 January, led by SkyOut Paragliding’s Roger Stanford and Julian Belmonte. Female pilots who took part gained improve- ment in their piloting skills, as well as achieving a SAFA Ground Tow Endorsement (PG), giving them access to a broader range of flying sites. Catherine said the nervous tension was thick in the air as the pilots prepared for their first tow, however, the nerves quickly turned to excitement as they launched into the air. “Roger did an incredible job at talking everyone through their launches and acceleration into the sky,” she explained. “With only a few wobbly launches, due to the crosswind, it is with great pride and delight that I can report that every launch and landing was safe and successful. Each participant completed their 10 tows by lunchtime on Sunday; primarily due to the fantastic facilitation of Roger and flawless tow driving by Julian.” Forms and Documents SAFA Documents are now available in the Member Zone of the SAFA website .
