29 SPRING 2026 | September-October-November SKY SAILOR With no one else interested in an early visit to the bomb-out, Anthony Brown heroically launched and demonstrated that it still wasn’t on. Eventually, Daron Brinsdon intercepted a slow climb at the end of the drive-up ridge, prompting cheers and applause from launch. It was on! Rosco Brandli and Peter Harding tenaciously hung onto the same climb, while Carol Liang aimed for the next ridge, catching a solid 5m/sec climb all the way to 2000m. Susy Goldner was beelining for the same trigger, but found her own climb on the way, making things easy for me. I had a quick climb to 1800m where we connected with Carol just south of launch. Felix had found a climb to the left of launch, and we saw him buzzing around above Mt Widgee, which usually produced the biggest climbs, but not on that day. With the forecast light winds, my original plan had been a counter-clockwise triangle via Kilkivan. However, after seeing a north- erly component in the first climb, and with the prospect of exploring a new line, Carol, Susy and I headed south.
