19 SUMMER 2025/2026 | December-January-February SKY SAILOR laide to Cairns, via Birdsville, the latest was a ride of the North Island, New Zealand. Celebrating the 30th year anniversary, Billo said this year’s could be his last MG. I didn’t need to be asked twice. Our crew of Billo, Brod Osborne (Brodski), and Hayden Olive ( Billo’s grand- son), arrived on 24 September, and had a couple of days to sort out our gear and get ready for the right morning. The MG doesn’t happen every day and waits for no one. Fast forward to 27 September, I find myself on a dolly, ready to launch into one amazing experience. Brodski waves away and I’m off. Barely past first light, the wave arrived early and had my name on it. Sorry Brodski, it was all mine. Off the dolly under a super wet glider, due to the air needing 100% humidity to form the cloud, the wave was right there. Spectacular! Into a right turn, the wave was in perfect form and position for me to climb straight up to its 500ft face. Rock star treatment for the Vibeman. Pictures do paint a thousands words.
