58 SKY SAILOR December-January-February | SUMMER 2025/2026 Club Bulletin – December 2025 In this bulletin we outline some online tools available for clubs, where to find our insurance documents, pilot qualifications check tools and clubs affiliated entity status. Website The SAFA website has a number of functions available in the members login area that your club officials may find useful: • View and update contact details of your club – please do this whenever they change, the details added are pub- lished on the SAFA website and in other media > log into the members area/ menu/club details. • Set up a Paypal system for your club to manage its own club membership fees; and • Check all your club members qualifi- cations , simply by uploading a CSV file of your club list > log into the members area/menu/append members infor- mation to your CSV. Insurance Copies of policies and certificates of currencies for our aviation, non-aviation, associations liability and other insurances, applicable for members, club activities and site access permits, are available in the members area. Note: Your club must annually renew affiliation with SAFA to retain professional indemnification for your club committee members, and SAFA club recognition for delegation of Aviation Authorities. Your club must remain a legal entity recognised by Commonwealth or State law. Sites Access to some sites have been lost, and many threatened, due to a minority who operate unlawfully or believe they are not required to be members of SAFA. Aviation laws require pilots of our aircraft to be certified and qualified by SAFA. A simple ‘On site safety, Pilot qualification & mem- bership check’ flowchart and ‘Unlawful ops, what to do’ guide, has been produced for your club and members. Club’s entity status When your club renews its SAFA affiliation, it certifies it is an entity recognised under Commonwealth or State Law. Your club must annually fulfil its reporting obli- gations to the Commonwealth, or State and any reporting requirements required by your Regional Association.
