SAFA Skysailor Magazine

15 March | April 2022 SKY SAILOR Members of the newly formed Vic HG Comps Inc. include Phillip Campbell (Compe- tition Director), Hughbert Alexander (Meet Head), Andy Schmidt (Tech Advisor), Wesley Hill (Scorer) and Tracey Meyer (First Aid/Covid Safety Officer and Media Liaison). Helpers in- cluded Vic Hare (Weatherman), Nicki Shaulders (Goalie), Randall Clotworthy (Launch Marshall) and Neil Hooke (‘Safety Matters’ talks). Due to the La Niña influence on the weather, and a trough feeding moisture down from the top end of Oz, we were only getting heights of 7500 to 8000ft most days and the climbs weren’t as strong as in previous years, however, the flying was great. Once more, lower airtime pilots had best heights/distance PBs, and some made goal for the first time. Most outlandings were in soft grass or on muddy ground which saved more than a couple of downtubes. For the flying task on Thursday, we organised goal to be across the road from the Tintaldra pub. We then had dinner and a raffle. The group raised $1350 on the night which was donated to the local emergency services and was gratefully received by the Corryong SES, Ambulance and CFA, during the Saturday night presentation dinner which was catered for by the Corryong Rotary Club at Colac Colac caravan park.
