16 SKY SAILOR March | April 2022 pilots attending the comp, we thankfully didn’t require their assistance this year. The weather was wet and stormy on several days. One night saw four thunderstorms move through, damaging tents, a caravan awning collapsed, a mirror broken off Noel’s car by a falling branch and over 70mm of rain. Thunderbolts and lightning… it was very, very frightening! Galileo? The Colac Colac caravan park looked more like a collection of ponds than a campground. Young kids had a ball playing in the large puddles with their newly acquired floating Christmas presents. I spoke to a few of the older townsfolk, all claimed they had never seen the land so green at this time of year! A night of storms on Friday night saw water flowing across the road in many spots. The last-second inclusion of Jonny Durand was a splendid asset to the pilot list. Jonny not only won the A grade comp but, on the days of crappy (inclement) weather, he and Vic Hare gave several Corryong Cup 2022 Top: Marcus de Vecchi above Davis Tries Left: Donny Gardner, Conner and Dustan after landing Photo: Dustan Hansen
