23 WINTER 2026 | June-July-August SKY SAILOR discuss equipment set-ups or simply sit back and watch the flying. The shared campsite became the hub of activity, espe- cially during the midday breaks. A great flying location Brooms Head continues to prove itself as an excellent location for a paramotor gathering. Located less than three hours from Brisbane, it provides a convenient meeting point for pilots travelling down from Queensland and those coming up from Sydney and other parts of NSW. The flying site offers a rare advantage – a private 930m airstrip with plenty of surrounding open space. For the weekend, the strip was organised into three oper- ating zones: one each at the southern end, in the middle and at the far end. This allowed pilots to launch and land safely without congestion, while marshals acted as look-outs to help maintain situational awareness and safe operations. From this base, pilots were able to explore a variety of flying options. Some headed out for coastal flights along the spectacular shoreline. A number of pilots explored the nearby river systems, while others ventured inland across paddocks and open countryside. Photos: Brett Paul aka ‘fan man’
